Here's What Ozzy Osbourne Has Planned for the 'Blizzard of Ozz' Anniversary

Celebrating 40 years since it was first released

September 16, 2020

One of rock’s great albums turns 40 this year and is celebrating with the release of never before heard material.

Ozzy Osbourne’s debut solo album Blizzard Of Ozz was originally released on September 20, 1980 and boasted some of Ozzy’s best known songs like “Crazy Train” and “Mr. Crowley.”

On September 18, an expanded digital 40th anniversary edition of his landmark record will be released and feature the original album along with seven previously unheard live recordings. Additionally, two of Ozzy’s live concert films, Live & Loud (1993) and Live at Budokan (2002), will be released digitally for the first time.

The Blizzard Of Ozz 40th anniversary edition features three bonus tracks on top of the original record - “You Looking At Me, Looking At You,” an original b-side to “Crazy Train,” “Goodbye To Romance,” the 2010 guitar and vocal mix, and “RR,” an outtake from the “Blizzard Of Ozz” session.

Seven bonus live recordings from the “Blizzard Of Ozz” tour will be included as well. Those tracks are “I Don’t Know,” “Crazy Train,” “Mr. Crowley,” “Revelation (Mother Earth),” “Steal Away (The Night),” and “Suicide Solution.” Additionally a recording of “You Said It All” from the 1980 “Mr. Crowley” live EP will be a part of the bonus tracks.

Both Live & Loud (1993) and Live at Budokan (2002) have been made available on VHS/DVD before, but this will mark the first time the two live Ozzy tapes are digitally released. Live & Loud features Ozzy’s former Black Sabbath bandmates Geezer Butler, Bill Ward, and Tommy Iommi. The Live At Budokan release features his 2002 touring band including Zakk Wylde, Robert Trujillo, Mike Bordin, and John Sinclair.
