Washington Couple's Wedding Features Kitten Hour Instead of Cocktail Hour

How Purr-fect is That?

November 16, 2018

Meet Iz and Colleen, a couple from Washington state who love cats so much that they decided to hold a "kitten hour" at their wedding instead of a traditional cocktail hour.

The self-described "crazy, head-over-heels cat people" tell BuzzFeed that they own two older rescue cats who couldn't attend their big day because of their special needs.

So they brought in six kittens from the Seattle Animal Shelter. "We love our cats very much, and wanted to bring a little of their spirit to the celebration," Colleen explains. "We wanted guests to have something to do during the family [picture>-taking time, and were too broke to have a cocktail hour." She continues, "Guests loved the kittens, and lots of people told us that every wedding should have a mandatory kitten hour."

The newlyweds made a donation to the Seattle Animal Shelter before their big day and asked their guests to do the same as a wedding present.

Iz and Colleen Kimseylove knew they wanted to incorporate some feline fun into their wedding. Since their own cats are older rescues with health issues, they offered guests a kitten hour, instead of a cocktail hour, complete with six adorable kittens from the Seattle Animal Shelter. The couple donated to the shelter before the wedding, and say it was cheaper than a cocktail hour and a huge hit with guests. The kittens were selected for their social temperament and were only at the wedding for an hour, with volunteers making sure they were handled safely. All six have since found their furever homes --❤️ (--: @fuckyeahweddings)
