Join The New Sunny 98.1 For Breast Cancer Awareness Month

We'd love to see you out at one of these events!

September 29, 2017

One in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. It's the second leading cause of death from cancer among women. Unfortunately, we have all been affected by breast cancer in one way or another, and yet there is still no cure for it. I recently lost a friend to breast cancer.  At 32 years old Michelle had beaten it once, but unfortunately it came back over the summer and she lost her battle on September 11th.

Here at The New Sunny 98.1, we are going pink for October Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Join us at some events around the county to benefit breast cancer research.

The first event coming up is on October 12, starting at 8a.  Join us for the 5th Annual Dine Out For The Cure.

For one delicious day, local restaurants, bakeries, and coffeehouses across San Diego will participate in Susan G.Komen San Diego’s Dine Out for the Cure®. It’s simple. Eat at a participating restaurant and you’ll help San Diego breast cancer patients become breast cancer survivors. For every dollar you spend, anywhere from 10-25% of the restaurant’s profits for the day will go to Komen San Diego

On October 14th, we'll be out at North Ski Beach for the 17th Annual Row for the Cure.

Beginning with local teams and a few kayakers, this event has grown over the years and is OPEN TO ANY HUMAN-POWERED WATERCRAFT! Every stroke we row and every dollar we donate – is another life saved.

Participants grab their oars and paddles to row their way through a 4.5 kilometer course through Mission Bay, passing by the water side of Sea World, around Vacation Island and Paradise Point, finishing just North of Ski Beach.

* Races are both competitive and just for fun!

*Registration/Check-in begins at 5:30 a.m. with events starting at 7 a.m.

When registering, select Row for the Cure/San Diego.

All entry fees and donations benefit Susan G. Komen San Diego to support free services for every step of the breast cancer journey, which includes free mammograms, educations, food assistance, transportation, temporary financial assistance for the most critical needs, diagnostics, research and more.

And on November 5th we'll be at Balboa Park for the Race for the Cure 5K & 1K Walk/Run benefitting the Susan G. Komen San Diego foundation.

We hope to see you out at these events!!
