Princess Diana was a big fan of something that we need to consider bringing back: the art of a written thank you.

It is noted that, as busy as she was, immediately following her 1991 wedding to Prince Charles, the princess took time between her new royal duties to sit down and answer many of the 47,000 letters of congratulations and 10,000 gifts the wedding generated.

Although the internet and smartphones seem to have superseded the traditional handwritten correspondence of any kind, a recent survey concludes that 75% of people enjoy receiving handwritten, mailed letters. Receiving personal mail makes most people feel special.

Isn’t that worth keeping a box of Thank You cards, a book of stamps and an address book handy? Princess Diana thought so.
