San Diego Among The Most Pet-Friendly Cities

August 8, 2017

With National Homeless Animals Day approaching (it's August 19th) and the cost of owning a pet ranging from $227 to more than $2,000, depending on the type of animal, WalletHub took an in-depth look at 2017’s Most Pet-Friendly Cities.

WalletHub’s number crunchers look at a wide variety of factors when compiling their lists.  In this case, they compared the creature-friendliness of the 100 largest cities across 21 key metrics. The data set ranges from minimum pet-care provider rate per visit to pet businesses per capita to walkability.

We're happy to say that San Diego ranks among the top cities when it comes to Animal Shelters per Capita -- and we have some of the best, including the San Diego Humane Society, Rancho Coastal Humane Society and the Helen Woodward Animal Center.  (Although, truth be known, we wish we didn't NEED these great shelters.)

Here's a look at how San Diego shapes up on the list...
